How It Works
OORCAS rebuilds a dynamic patient model from the complete clinical record on every run. A symbolic reasoning engine — derived from 25+ years of clinical informatics research — fires rules against that model and returns a ranked findings report. No LLM. No training loop. No hallucination.
Labs, imaging, vitals, medications, diagnoses — every data point is factored in. OORCAS reads only; it writes nothing back and retains no patient data.
Every rule is traceable to a peer-reviewed citation (AHA, ACC, ADA, NCCN, USPSTF, and more). No rule exists without its source.
Findings are ranked by clinical priority and specialty. Each recommendation links directly to its guideline citation. Care gaps are surfaced automatically.
Products
The same OORCAS reasoning engine powers a provider-facing clinical tool and a patient-facing app — each designed for a different moment in care.
Finder gives physicians a ranked, specialty-organized view of every finding across the full patient record. Designed for concierge, primary care, and hospitalist workflows — findings update whenever the chart changes.
Patients connect AskOrkie to their existing EHR records via secure SMART on FHIR OAuth2. AskOrkie reads the chart and produces a plain-language findings report so patients arrive informed.
Integrations
OORCAS connects via FHIR — no new software to install at the practice. Epic integration is live on App Orchard and can activate at any participating site immediately.
OORCAS exports and analyzes the full record in a purpose-built symbolic engine, then returns results to the provider interface — without writing anything back to the EHR.

About
OORCAS grew from PhD research connecting heterogeneous medical systems — the same architectural principles that let OORCAS today read an Epic chart, a Cerner chart, and an Athena chart through the same reasoning engine.
The clinical rule library spans 4,259+ rules across cardiology, endocrinology, oncology, hematology, neurology, primary care, and more — each rule linked to its citation. In a blind benchmark on 600 ABFM family medicine board-prep questions, OORCAS scored 93–96% (passing threshold: 80%).
